Purist Gallery - Yallingup, W.A.

IMG_5791.JPGAs you may know from SV's Guide to Life post (see archives) my dad and step-mum, Max and Penny, own Purist Gallery in the Margaret River wine region of W.A.

At Purist Max displays his fine art objects and jewellery and Penny her abstract paintings, screen prints and etchings. Purist gifts are also on display and available for purchase.

Purist was designed by my father who is an award winning jeweller with a background in architecture and was built six and a half years ago. Over this time I have been greatly influenced by my parent's design aesthetics and have been lucky enough to be able to give my opinion on various elements of the overall look and feel of the gallery.

Here are some images I have taken during my stay down south over the Christmas break.

IMG_5713.JPGThere is an espresso bar where you can enjoy morning and afternoon tea in the bush setting.

Just between you and me having this much tea at your disposal makes for some obsessive tea making in the home vicinity (excluding me - I am not a huge tea fan). Yesterday my dad even brought me a cup when I kindly refused one - just in-case I changed my mind. I would say there are roughly 12 tea times per day, minimum :)

T2 has always been the tea of choice for Purist and my personal favourite when I do feel like one is Gorgeous Geisha. It is strawberry and cream flavoured green tea - yum!

IMG_5685.JPGI have always been obsessed with china and glass-wear ever since I was little. It is quite a strange obsession for a child to have but every time my mother and I went somewhere and I was allowed something I would always choose a glass or dish of some sort. I love the way Penny has displayed these cups and saucers.

Telethon Celebrity Parade

Telethon Celebrity Parade Saturday 6/09/08

The stunning Radhika Oswal wears a one off dress designed by Tarun Tahiliani. Her jewellery is by Graff, bought in London.

The Indian Haute Couture designer Tahiliani has also created pieces exclusively for other celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley and Jemima Khan. This garment fetched a $30,000 sale price tonight at the Telethon Celebrity Parade auction held in the Perth Town Hall and the generous buyer was none other than Radhika's husband, Pankaj Oswal. I had heard a lot about this dress before tonight (being a stylist by trade we remember such bizarre details) and was rather satisfied to see it bought by the Oswal's. Although this all sounds rather cheesy, I actually thought for some reason it was already her own but then I realised that this may be simply because it quite clearly looks as though Radhika was born to wear this dress.

The fabulous Narelle Belle as 'Amy Housewine' wearing a self styled outfit.

I am suspecting the 'sleeve' tattoo was bought at the Royal Show, however if I am mistaken, either way - if anyone else is crazy enough to want to rock this look - that is the place where I know you can source one kids (don't ask HOW I know this). Shall we say crazy chic?

It was pretty cool to have a yarn with Narelle - who was delightful - backstage, not knowing what her involvement was in the night's event. So when I saw her later perform on the catwalk, a drunken, choky rendition of Winehouse's Back in Black, I found it utterly hilarious how, um...professional she was at it. The tackiness of it all (for me - at least) was actually very refreshing amongst the sea of glitz and glamour and glistening glittering girlies.
