Essential Style Item

Le Glove logo CMYK resised.jpg
Le Glove 3D-Box (3)resized.jpg
Le Glove is a new stylish, fuss free grooming accessory now available in Australia. It removes annoying hair, lint and dandruff from clothing and upholstery at the swish of your wrist. Each Le Glove has an adhesive backing, that, once exposed, quickly and efficiently collects unwanted fibres from hard or soft surfaces. All you have to do is slip on Le Glove and pat at your garments and the fibres instantly come away.

Only recently has the product been made available in Australia, yet it is already proving to be the new must have item for stylistas everywhere. Personally I have never seen anything as effective in removing unwanted nasties from garments and the great news is they are fully biodegradable.

Le Glove was invented by Scott King (co-owner of Zekka, King Street) and Alley Michelle whom together make
AlleyWhoLogoBlack resized.jpg
the company responisble for this innovative new product where lint ridden clothes are a thing of the past.

As a stylist (and lover of the knit), Le Glove has become an essential addition to my styling kit.
My styling kit consists of:

  • Le Glove 20 pack (rrp:$14.95) The clothes brush is a thing of the past thanks to Alleywho!! They never seemed to work well anyway.
  • A very sharp pair of scissors.
  • Needles, good dress making pins, safety pins and a selection of different coloured thread.
  • A selection of bulldog clips. These are used to pull in waists that are too big or jackets that don't hang well.
  • Double -sided tape. This can be used for quick hemming or for sticking down collars or attaching light accessories.
  • Masking tape to cover the soles of shoes.
  • In studio if not using tape on shoes, have a cloth to wipe bottoms of shoes before model walks onto the backdrop. Dirty footprints do not a happy photographer make.
  • Stain removers. Check on inside of hem first before using. Drycleaning fluid is useful. Clean white cotton or tissues to dab stains or soak them up.
  • Spare shoe laces: they are often not long enough.
  • Ribbons, selection of scarves and bits of fabric. These can be used in hair, round neck or as accessories.
  • A chiffon or silk scarf to use as protection against make-up if you have to put garments over head.
  • Shoe horn.
  • Shoe socks, a selection of socks and cotton wool in case shoes are too big.
  • Cover up, for model to wear when having hair and make-up changes done.
  • Shoe polish for touching up shoes if they look tatty.
  • Talcum powder will ease feet into small shoes and is essential for latex (which I use more often than you would think). Can also be used to soak up grease or cosmetic stains on garments.

The 'VOYEURISM' Tote
image001.jpg
Generics is an exclusive new accessories label to come out of Perth, created by Lisa Chau, formally of Zanthus and is now available in Perth boutiques. Generics offers quality, up-to-the-minute trend driven pieces that won't strain your wallet but will steal your attention.

These limited edition bags, belts and accessories will charm you with their quirky styles and with names such as the Hello Stranger Duffle Bag, Thunderdancer earring, High Hopes belt and my personal favourite - The VOYEURISM Tote! this won't be the last time you'll be hearing about the label. Don't expect, though to see these items on every fashion fan in town, for only those in-the-know will be clever enough to nab the key pieces right away - the stock is so limited there is only a handful of each design released in Australia each season.

Generics is, in-fact, so cool they are giving away The VOYEURISM Tote valued at ($95) exclusive to one lucky Style Voyeur viewer and to be in the running all you need to do is simply subscribe to their VIP list at www.genericsaccessories.com and enter your first name followed by (Style Voyeur) in the name column and the rest of your details so if you win we can send you the prize!!

The winner will be drawn on April 30 live on Style Voyeur and will be one of only two people currently in W.A. who will own the Pewter VOYEURISM Tote (pictured above.)

I believe this bag could be unisex, however if you're a gentleman who doesn't carry, think of your girlfriend, sister, mother, crush or that sexy neighbour who would be ever so delighted to receive such an exclusive gift.

To get your hands on the Generics range before it's too late head to:

Planet -

Hello Stranger! Duffle

I am loving this studded Duffle bag. You have the option of hanging it low on your hips over one shoulder or two or adjusting it to a length that best suits you.
Chakra Earring ($40)
Free-As-A-Bird Duffle

This bag reminds me of a cute 1980's prom bubble dress. The 1980's are back again except with this piece in your wardrobe you won't have to suffer the risk of thinking you might just look like your mother has dressed you.

Flower Child Belt ($55)

This clinching waist belt will add a softer more feminine touch to the slightly edgy, soft goth look dominating our Autumn/Winter collections following on from last winter's girl-after-dark vibe.
Thunderdancer Earring

I am not usually into drop earings, however this design to me looks like a peacock feather made out of fireworks and as bizarre as it sounds the thought of that is impossibly beautiful!

It was so fantastic to see these bizarre massive eggs 'frying' on the table as the sun was scorching hot and it all seemed rather fitting. Yummy art! I also like the boyish charm of Stuart's metallic interpretation of the traditional paper plane.

Model Antics - Tom Bull in Athens

|

78_n893400396_4669098_6287.jpgThe above image is a recent shot taken in London.

For Perth model Tom Bull it has been a whirlwind end to 2008.
The bubbly Scene model jetted over to Europe in November and has since landed himself in numerous editorial spreads for magazines such as V-Man, Glamour and as Tom, himself describes it "despite it's name, a really cool Greek mag called Free'.
All of which will be out in January.

For the past month Tom has been living and working in Athens, Greece and in his true Aussie boy manner is taking everything in his stride. Unfazed by the recent Athens riots, un-dazed clad in Calvin Klein working with the world's biggest and best creatives and with Milan Fashion Week just around the corner, there is only one direction this Perth boy is heading - he's GOING ON UP!

Tom sent me some behind-the-scenes shots from recent assignments direct from Athens, exclusive to Style Voyeur. Enjoy!

Collection Shows (Backstage)

|

I have produced, art directed, styled, photographed and assisted on many photo shoots in my life and out of a full day shoot there are usually only ever about five (5) or six (6) useable images in total. Although the expectations are slightly lower for 'backstage' shots, never before have I had so many useable images from one evening or lunch or show then ever before, until I worked with the models of the Perth Fashion Festival. They are a delight to photograph and almost every frame is useable - this, I think, is because they are all professionals, naturally amazing on the inside and out and are willing to have fun with the directions they are given. I expected to get some amazing pictures over the course of the nine day event, however what I didn't expect was to meet and make friends with some of the most sweetest, fun and brightest young things this city has to offer.

As I say there were so many great pictures to choose from, so this may indeed be the most epic post in blogging history.

IMG_2670 - Copy.JPG

Perth Fashion Festival Make-up Director Bobby Bujisic told me that his concept behind the make-up for the collections shows was that the reality is - model's are mannequins. Usually in the modelling world some models are favoured over others and some look better with certain make-up compared to the rest. All of this was avoided to create a uniform look for all 29 girls.

IMG_2739.JPG

Couture jewellery by Alister Yiap. These innovative and some-what bizarre pieces were created for the runway. Alister (who was previously captured by SV back at the Kooey Launch) told me they symbolise facets of personality.

His more wearable pieces can be found at Libertine in Mt Lawley.

IMG_2748.JPG

There is such a juxtaposition between the tough media used and the soft, heavenly connotations associated with fairy wings. Relating it back to Alister's references to the facets of personality - this indicates to me the yin and yang in all of us. The good and bad elements we all have inside. I like how these creations bring so many questions to the tip of your tongue.

IMG_2749.JPG

IMG_2776.JPG

I was sitting down to rest my feet and saw this strange futuristic, insect like creature in front of me. The piece looks so much like something out of War of the Worlds. I didn't ask but am assuming Alister created these objects with consideration to the proportions of the human body in mind - otherwise there would have been some very big logistical issues when fitting them to the models. In considering that, it is mind blowing to think of the amount of work that must have gone into each and every one of these pieces. Highly impressive and very exciting. I wonder what is next in store for this budding artist?

IMG_2835.JPG

Cute custom made crowns (on closer inspection I saw that they were made from sticking gold chains onto woven baskets and then adorned with jewells and sheer, luxurious material) at Ruth Tarvydas.

IMG_2837.JPG

IMG_2852.JPG

It's all about bold colour for Spring/ Summer 2008/ 2009 and if the floral paisley print doesn't work for you, you can re-create the look your own way by using all the colours of the rainbow mixed together as seen (above).
