Wasteland provides the best of the best Perth has on offer!

For six weeks now I have been promising backstage model antics so that is exactly what you get yo!

I am a bit of a fan of Rawsthorne and remember first reading about her in Russh magazine a while back. From the minute I saw her collection, her name was duelly noted. Being a big supporter of native Australia I was impressed with the statement print she has used throughout her most recent collection (in-fact it is only her second collection thus far) as it quite obviously appears to be indigenous.

This skirt (pictured) is my favourite piece from the entire collection. It is an original print named 'Waratah' by Australian artist Linda Jackson produced in 1985. Rawsthorn approached the artist (who said - obviously impressed -  that it was her first request from a young designer to use one of her works) so Jackson permitted this up and comer to take a pick from her personal archives. The result speaks for itself.  

When assisting with styling for this show I was so excited when we picked up the items as I did not expect Rawsthorne to be available in Perth. I am delighted to say that pieces from the designer's Spring/ Summer 2008/ 2009 collection are available - I am assuming, exclusively - at Wasteland.
